Cleaning your electric kettle can be a real chore, but as part of this, it is important that you consider a few different tips for getting the most from your cleaning routines.

Cleaning your electric kettle doesn’t need to be hard so long as you follow our top tips for cleaning electric kettles quickly, easily, and safely!

Can Electric Kettles be Cleaned Easily?

Electric kettles can be an incredibly awkward shape to try to work with, and this might leave you asking the question of, “can electric kettles be cleaned easily”?

However, I’m here to let you know how to clean your electric kettles quickly, safely, and efficiently so that you can continue enjoying your favorite beverages without having to worry about the cleanliness of the kettle!

How to Clean Glass Electric Kettles?

Cleaning an electric kettle is something that many people dread or overlook doing, especially if you have a glass kettle.

Not only can this seem like a challenge due to the shape of the kettle and the electrical components, but for many people, the glass itself can make them concerned about using cleaning products for the kettle too.

After all, you might be thinking, glass breaks easily – so surely using generic cleaning products to clean glass will be risky?

Well, don’t panic – if you’re unsure about how to clean your electric glass kettle, I have some top tips for how you can simplify your life and clean your glass kettle (and other appliances!) quickly and easily.

You can remove the built-up water scale on your electric glass kettle by adding a cup of vinegar into your kettle and let it boil for 5 minutes. Wipe the interior with a teaspoon of baking soda, repeat the vinegar boiling process until the water scale marks are bearly visible.

Above is a simple cleaning solution. If you’re still not getting the result you’re looking for, read on below for a more in-depth cleaning method.

How to Clean Electric Kettle With Apple Cider Vinegar

One of the most popular methods for cleaning glass kettles for many people is arguably to use Apple Cider Vinegar.

Indeed, apple cider vinegar can be a highly effective cleaning product, and this makes it suitable for a huge number of different applications, not only for cleaning your glass kettle but for cleaning other utensils in your home, such as cleaning stainless steel surfaces, too!

Apple cider vinegar is a natural product that is made by fermenting apples, and the health benefits that it can offer are notable. However, when apple cider vinegar is mixed in a 1:1 ratio with water, it can also be used as an excellent cleaning solution too!

Fill your kettle about 2/3 full with apple cider vinegar and water solution and all the kettle to come to a boil; particularly, scaled kettles may need a slightly stronger solution, but for most kettles, this 1:1 ratio will be sufficient for dislodging limescale and the like.

You may want to leave the solution in the kettle for a short while after the mixture has finished boiling before then emptying it for the best results.

At this point, you then simply need to empty the mixture, give the kettle a quick scrub out on the inside, and rinse generously with cold water; this should easily dislodge all of the built upscale!

A great result and no harmful chemicals are needed either! This is what makes apple cider vinegar one of the most popular cleaning solutions for your kettle out there.

How to Clean Electric Kettle with Baking Soda

If you don’t have apple cider vinegar at home, then baking soda can be another option for dislodging the scale build-up from your kettle!

Limescale can be stubborn to remove, but mixing a teaspoon of baking soda in water and then allowing this to be brought to the boil in your kettle can be another great option.

Again, the kettle should be filled to about 2/3 full before bringing to a boil, and leaving the solution to sit for a short period of time after the mixture has boiled could also be effective for further helping to dislodge the scale.

As before, once the solution has been emptied, you then simply need to scrub out the kettle and give it a good rinse to remove any leftover scale.

Using Cleaning Products to Clean Electric Kettles

If you want to try using a commercially available cleaning product to clean your electric kettle instead of trying apple cider vinegar or baking soda, it is important that you read the specific instructions on the product packaging.

These products can be easily picked up from the grocery store and are usually very effective. However, you’ll want to take extra care after using them to ensure that the kettle is fully rinsed out.

Otherwise, you might find your next cup of tea or coffee having a rather strong and unpleasant aftertaste (and one which won’t do your insides any good, either!)

Cleaning the Outside of Your Electric Kettle

Keeping the inside of your kettle clean is important, but you shouldn’t neglect the outside of the kettle either! The body of your kettle can be cleaned in many different ways, but I suggest that you try one of the following cleaning methods to keep your kettle looking shiny and new:

  • Dish soap can be highly effective for gently cleaning your kettle, but make sure you don’t use a scratchy sponge or cloth as this could leave marks on your kettle!
  • If you want to polish your kettle, gently rubbing a very small amount of olive oil over the surface of the kettle can be a very effective way to make the kettle shiny and keep it looking as good as new! Always use a soft and gentle cloth when doing so for the best results.

Best Kettle Cleaning Tools

The opening of a kettle can be very narrow, which can make it challenging to get your hands inside to clean it.

Here are a few cleaning tools I recommend for cleaning

your kettle if you cannot fit your hands inside to clean.

Final Thoughts

No one likes having a build-up of scale in their kettle, especially not when the scale ends up floating on the top of your cup of tea or coffee!

As such, keeping your kettle cleaned regularly is something that is of the utmost importance, and as part of this, you should consider our cleaning tips for glass and electric kettles so that you can keep your own kettle performing at its best for longer!

Keeping your kettle clean on the inside and out is a sure way to ensure that your cups of tea and coffee go down honey-sweet – and our tips will help you to achieve this without fuss or difficulty!
